I discovered the art of Michael Mahaffey last year when I was frantically searching etsy for things to fill the walls of my house before it was supposed to be shot for a magazine. I saw that he was from Savannah so I contacted him to see if I could possibly use a few pieces for staging but unfortunately he had just moved to California. I was just looking at his store again and he has a lot of new stuff that’s pretty fabulous – I love it!! It’s a little mad, a lot magic and some pieces are very 60’s (80’s too)! Awesome quotes, a gun wielding Audrey Hepburn, Steve McQueen and Tippi Hedren from The Birds! What else do you need?! 🙂 I’m not much for describing art so I’ll let him tell it…

Addicted to Creation. I get cranky if I’m not working on something expressive and new. I started out as a fine art portrait artist and while I still prefer figurative work, I now complete these portraits with everything from pencil to spray paint. My goal is generally to find creative and impactful ways to tell a story. You may recognize some of the people in my artwork, but they have all been hand drawn and reworked to fit into whatever story I want to use them for.
